UPEI student named 2010 Student Entrepreneur Prince Edward Island Champion

Charlottetown, PE (Wednesday, February 10, 2010) – Nicholas MacLeod, owner of Future Web Design and full time student at UPEI, has been named the 2010 Student Entrepreneur Prince Edward Island Champion by national charitable organization, Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) and proud program supporter, CIBC.

Since 2003, Nicholas has owned and operated Future Web Design, providing full service information technology services with a strong emphasis on customer service.  Future Web Design provides clients with web development, hosting, domain registration, graphic design, photography and IT Technical Support.  The company focuses mainly on small business by offering web development and IT services that are of high quality and add value to the company.

Nicholas’s largest business accomplishments to date include being fully supported financially by the business, having a client base across the US and Canada including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and all Atlantic Provinces as well as having an average of 60% growth in revenue over the past three years.
“For me personally the award provides additional inspiration. It has taken an incredible investment of time and personal sacrifice to bring my business to this point”, explains Future Web Design owner Nicholas MacLeod. “Being recognized brings incentive for me to continue to work hard, set and strive for larger goals.”

As a provincial champion, Nicholas will now move on to represent Prince Edward Island in the regional round of competition taking place at the 2010 ACE Regional Exposition in Halifax on February 26, 2010. Provincial Champions will each present their business to a panel of entrepreneurs and industry professionals who will determine two Regional Champions, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and move on to the final round of competition at the 2010 ACE National Exposition in Calgary on May 12th, 2010. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

“With today’s ever changing economic situation, ACE is proud to continue its work developing leaders, creating connections and impacting communities, explains President of ACE, Amy Harder. Our 2010 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions will no doubt contribute meaningfully to the Canadian economy for years to come.”

2010 Student Entrepreneur of the Year Prince Edward Island

Future Web Design owner and founder, Nicholas MacLeod is proud to have been awarded the 2010 Student Entrepreneur of the Year Prince Edward Island by Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship Inc. (ACE).

About the Student Entrepreneur Competition:

The Student Entrepreneur program operated by ACE is the only national program to focus solely on full time Canadian post-secondary student entrepreneurs. It is a program that strives to enrich participant’s lives through recognition, networking and providing a unique learning experience.

Since inception in 1997 this program has celebrated the commitment, determination and achievements of student entrepreneurs through an awards based competition. This competition is open to full-time students at Canadian universities or colleges who are simultaneously operating their own businesses.

I have been invited to the ACE Regional Exposition, Atlantic Canada which is being held at the World Trade and
Convention Centre in Halifax, NS on February 25-26, 2010.  I will be competing against the provincial student entrepreneurs from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.

I would like to personally thank the two references contacted by ACE, Alanna Jankov of Image Factory – Alanna’s Photography and Barry MacKinnon of Nice and Natural.

Site Launch: Centuar

Mark Grant has just launched his new website promoting his kennel in Halifax, NS.  I had a lot of fun with this design.  There was a lot of information to fit into the site but we managed just fine with the use of sub-navigation.  We wish Mark all the best in the 2010 show season.

New Product for 2010!

Happy New Year!

We are excited to be able to offer a new product for customers in 2010!  We have added an e-commerce solution to our product listing.

Some details:

Future Web Design offers an end to end e-commerce solution for existing or new businesses looking to take a business idea online. Future Web Design can implement, maintain and host a complete e-commerce solution.

We currently have clients using these e-commerce systems and the response has been over whelming. The system is designed to be search engine friendly from day one. With the easy to use administration panel you are able to track orders with only a few clicks. Inventory management lets you monitor inventory levels and receive low inventory emails. The system will not let a customer order products that are out of stock.

Prices vary based on the needs of the clients. If you are interested in taking your business online please contact us for our e-commerce pricing. Future Web Design also has an online demo version of the software available. Contact for more details.

I hope to be able to post a release early next week for the new website that is using our e-commerce solution.

2010 is going to bring big things to Future Web Design and our clients both new and existing!
